Ralph Christian Meyer (born 18th January 1969) is a Major General of the German Army and since September 2026, Director Logistics and Resources Division in NATO’s International Military Staff.

Meyer joined the Bundeswehr in 1988 at the Supply Battalion 11 in Delmenhorst and trained as an officer candidate until 1990. He then studied Political Science at the University of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg until 1994. This was followed by an assignment as a Platoon Commander in the Transportation Battalion 143 in Strausberg and as a Logistics Officer. From November 1996 he was Company Commander 3. / Transportation Battalion 220 in Günzburg, Bavaria.

From 2001 to 2003, Meyer completed the 44th General Staff Course Army at the Bundeswehr Command and Staff College in Hamburg. Subsequently, he was employed in II. (GE/US) Corps in Ulm as a G3 staff officer (training and exercises, EUROPEAN CHALLENGE 2005). This was followed by participation in ACSC 9 of the British Armed Forces in Shrivenham, Wiltshire, from 2005 to 2006. Here he also obtained a Master’s degree in Defence Studies from King's College London. He then moved to the Federal Ministry of Defence in Berlin, first as an Executive Officer with the Head of Planning Staff, then as a desk officer in the same directorate. In 2010 and 2011 he commanded the Logistics Battalion 471 in Dornstadt and was deployed abroad with the battalion as a Commander Support Battalion at KFOR. Subsequently, he was spokesman for the Chief of Defence Staff from January 2012 to February 2015, and then moved to Ulm again as Branch Head Current Operations at the Multinational Joint Headquarters. In 2016/2017, he studied at the Canadian Forces College in Toronto as a member of the National Security Programme (NSP 9). Here he was honoured with the D. Fraser Holman Medallion for "Excellence in Leadership and Strategic Thought".  This was followed by an assignment as Branch Head, Operations and Planning Division in the International Military Staff of NATO in Brussels and from 2018 to the end of 2020 as Branch Head with the German Military Representative MC NATO. From January 2021 to September 2024, he was Branch Head in the Federal Ministry of Defence in the Strategy and Operations Department, advising the Chief of Defence in his portfolio for the Military Committees of NATO and EU.   

In October 2024, he took over as Deputy MilRep and Chief of Staff German Military Representative MC NATO and EU. Here he was appointed to Brigadier General when he took up his duties. Since September 2026 he assumed the role of Director Logistics and Resources Division in NATO’s International Military Staff at NATO HQ in Brussels.

He participated in missions abroad of the Bundeswehr in 1998 as S3 Staff Officer DEU/ FRA Support Battalion, SFOR, Rajlovac, Bosnia Herzegovina and in 2011 as Commander of the support Battalion KFOR, Prizren, Kosovo.

Ralph Christian Meyer is married to Alexandra. The couple have two children. He has a keen interest in contemporary politics, history and age-appropriate cardio sports as well as tendering the family grounds with fields, woodland and horses at the Bavarian countryside.
