Born on: 24 July 1968
Education: 1994 University of Utrecht: Master History and Law
Marcel de Vink joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1995 and was posted in Pretoria, Iraq (Political Advisor to the British Divisional Commander), Brussels (NL mission to EU) and New York (NL mission to UN). He also worked at the Security Policy Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague.
He then had the following assignments:
2006 - 2010 - Private Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs
2010 - 2013 - Head of the Political Department in Washington
2013 - 2015 - Ambassador in Islamabad
August 2016 - June 2020 - Director of the Western Hemisphere Department (MFA)
July 2020 - August 2022 - Deputy Director-General for Political Affairs (MFA)
September 2022 - August 2026 - Director-General for Political Affairs (MFA)
