International Staff
NATO’s International Staff supports the work of the North Atlantic Council and its subordinate committees. It is composed of the Office of the Secretary General, six divisions headed by Assistant Secretaries General and a number of offices headed by Directors. The International Staff also includes several senior officials appointed by the Secretary General to coordinate specific policy areas.
NATO Strategic Commands
The NATO Command Structure, the overarching military command system for NATO, consists of two Strategic Commands: Allied Command Operations (responsible for the planning and execution of all NATO military operations) and Allied Command Transformation (in charge of the Alliance’s military adaptation).
