On Thursday (11 June 2026), NATO Deputy Secretary General Radmila Shekerinska visited Athens to participate in the Oikonomikos Tachydromos (OT) Forum. In a moderated discussion, Ms Shekerinska set out the priorities for the NATO Summit held in Ankara next month.

The Deputy Secretary General said the meeting of Allied Heads of State and Government will focus on delivering increased defence investment, more defence industrial production, and strong support to Ukraine. Ms Shekerinska explained there would be a strong focus on turning defence spending into capabilities. She described how European Allies and Canada are stepping up in NATO, backed by continued US commitment to the Alliance. The Deputy Secretary General also highlighted Greece’s important contributions to NATO.  During her visit to Athens, Ms Shekerinska also met with Greek National Security Advisor Thanos Dokos.
