Deputy Secretary General Radmila Shekerinska travelled to the United States, from Monday to Wednesday (8-10 December) where she participated in various meetings and discussions with journalists, politicians and the public.

On Monday, the Deputy Secretary General gave a speech to students at the Harvard Kennedy School’s Belfer Center in Boston, engaging with the audience on challenges to Allied security and the value of transatlantic unity: “So, this is what we do: Europe and America in NATO together. Two continents, 32 nations and 1 billion people” she said, going on to argue that: “Standing together is how we stay safe in a world that has become very dangerous, very volatile and sometimes very unpredictable.”

On Tuesday, Ms. Shekerinska spoke to parliamentarians during the NATO Parliamentary Assembly’s 25th Annual Parliamentary Transatlantic Forum, where she addressed the important role elected officials play in ensuring the security of our free and democratic societies. Afterwards, she met Congressman Mike Turner  and Congressman Donald Norcross to discuss bipartisan support for NATO in the US, and the path to the next NATO Summit in Ankara.

On Wednesday, the Deputy Secretary General joined a fireside chat hosted by the Aspen Security Forum to discuss topics important to NATO, including boosting defence investment and production and continuing support for Ukraine.
