AC/135 Mission & Objectives

On behalf of the Conference of National Armaments Directors (CNAD), AC/135 provides and promotes the NCS as the primary means of codification used by Armed Forces, Government, and Industry in support of interoperable and effective global logistics operations. Through codification, AC/135 manages all aspects of classification, item identification, and NATO Stock Numbers for materiel used by NATO and Sponsored nations.

IMPROVE CODIFICATION PROCESSES & PROCEDURES
  • Enhance interoperability for war-fighters
  • Meet national and international aims / objectives
  • Automate NCS processes to greatest extent possible
  • Simplify NCS Processes
ENHANCE DATA QUALITY & AVAILABILITY
  • Promote Master Data concept and common understanding
  • Create metrics/measurements for continuous improvement
  • Improve international electronic data exchange capabilities
ENGAGE WITH INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS
  • Promote NCS methodology within ISO community
  • Influence development of new ISO Standards
  • Create/support interoperability between different terminology systems / standards bodies
ENGAGE WITH INDUSTRY
  • Harness new technologies for data exchange or sharing
  • Enhance mutual understanding of NCS and other cataloguing systems
  • Improve and create interoperability between NATO & commercial cataloguing systems
