Jens Stoltenberg takes up office as NATO Secretary General
Mr. Jens Stoltenberg took up his post as NATO Secretary General on Wednesday (1 October 2014). He will chair his first meeting of the North Atlantic Council (NAC) later today.
The former Norwegian Prime Minister was appointed by the 28 Allies in March to succeed Mr. Anders Fogh Rasmussen as Secretary General. Mr. Fogh Rasmussen’s term expired on Tuesday after 5 years and 2 months at the helm of the Alliance.
Mr. Stoltenberg was previously Prime Minister of Norway from 2000-2001 and from 2005-2013.
