NADC Seminar on
Aerospace Power Doctrine
Under the aegis of the NATO Air Defence Committee (NADC), a seminar will take place at Bled, Slovenia from 18 May to 21 May 1998 hosted by Slovenian Authorities. The seminar is organised in the context of the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council (EAPC)/Partnership for Peace (PfP) Programme and the NADC's Cooperative Air Defence Programme. The theme of the seminar is "AEROSPACE POWER DOCTRINE".
Experts from eleven NATO nations, fourteen Partner nations and associated military and civilian agencies are scheduled to participate in the seminar.
Amongst the topics to be presented and discussed are:
- Aerospace Power - Doctrines at Strategic and Tactical/operational level
- Doctrinal Aspects of Air Power in Peace Support Operations - a Swedish View
- Air Defence Guiding Principles at the Strategic Level
- The Challenges of Establishing a National Air Defence Doctrine
- Airspace Control and Coordination in Operation Northern Watch
- Doctrine for Airspace Control in Times of Crisis and War
The presentations and discussions on these topics will contribute to a common understanding on doctrinal issues related to aerospace power, particularly air defence aspects. In addition the civil-military airspace coordination and control dimension will be addressed. These issues are particularly relevant for NATO and Partners as doctrine is established, reviewed and revised to reflect the evolving strategic environment and dynamic civil-military relationship.
France will host the next Seminar in autumn 1998.
