26 Jan. 2015Spanish troops joined NATO’s Patriot anti-ballistic missile deployment in Adana, Turkey on Monday (26 January 2015), replacing a Dutch unit which had been stationed there since January 2013.

10 Oct. 2014Visiting the Patriot deployment at Gaziantep, the NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg thanked personnel from the United States, Germany, the Netherlands, host nation Turkey and other Allies on Friday (10 October) for their contribution to reinforcing Turkey's air defence. “Your mission is more important than ever, and Allies remain committed to this vital mission,” the Secretary General said.

Breedlove (Supreme Allied Commander Europe) thanked Spain for its recent decision to provide Patriot missile batteries and 130 soldiers to augment NATO’s defensive deployment in southern Turkey. The Alliance deployed six batteries in 2013 to augment Turkey's air defence capabilities to defend the population from ballistic missile threats emanating from the Syrian conflict.
