Lieutenant General Ferit Güler was born in 1959 in Eskişehir. After graduating from Turkish Military Academy as a military engineer officer in 1980 and completing his basic training at Military Engineering School in 1981, he served as platoon and company leader in various military engineering units.

Following his staff officer training at Army Staff College between 1987 and 1989, he respectively served as:

  • Company Commander and Staff Officer in Operations Branch at the Turkish Military Academy,
  • Operations and Training Staff Officer in Peacekeeping Battalion at 66th Mechanized Brigade (İstanbul),
  • Detachment Commander and Liasion Officer in Somalia Peacekeeping Force.

Between 1993 and 1995, he served as the military assistant of Turkish Deputy General Chief of Staff. Then, he was assigned to SHAPE HQ as Caspian Region Staff Officer.

Following his three year tour in SHAPE HQ, he commanded a battalion at the 70th Mechanized Brigade (Mardin). In 1999, he was assigned as the Principal Aide-de-Camp of the Turkish President, and then, he commanded the Presidential Guards Regiment between 2002 and 2004.

He was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General in 2004 and served as the Construction and Real Estate Department Head in Minister of Defence until 2006. Between 2006 and 2008 he commanded 9th Motorized Brigade.

In 2008, he was promoted to the rank of Major General. He was assigned as the Secretary General (the Director of Management) of Turkish General Chief of Staff between 2008 and 2010. Then, he commanded Turkish Military Academy for two years.

He was promoted to his current rank in 2012 and served as the Commander of the 2nd Corps (Gelibolu) until mid August 2013.

In August 2013, he has been assigned as the Turkish Military Representative to NATO.

Lieutenant General Ferit GÜLER is married to Mrs.Mine GÜLER and has two children.
