Colonel Marinel MARE,
Deputy military representative to NATO and the EU,
Romanian Military Representation to NATO and the EU

Colonel Marinel MARE graduated from the Romanian Military School for
Artillery Officers and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Romanian
Army, in 1989.

As a junior officer, he commanded a variety of field artillery units and
performed multiple staff positions at battalion and brigade levels.

Starting 2007, he served in key leadership positions at the tactical, operational
and strategic levels in the Romanian Armed Forces, to include: MLRS battalion
commander; head of the Field Artillery Training Branch, Army Staff; head of the
Arms Control and Non-proliferation, as well as head of Strategies Branch, General
Staff.

During 2016-2018 he served as Chief of Staff, HQ Mutinational Division
South-East. Since 2018, Col Marinel MARE has been serving as Romania's Deputy
military representative to NATO and the EU.

Colonel Marinel MARE's international operational experience includes
UNAVEM III Peacekeeping Operation, in Angola, Enduring Freedom Operation,
Afghanistan, and Operation Antica Babilonia, Iraq.

Aside from the Military School for Artillery Officers, Colonel Marinel MARE
attended the Program on Advanced Applied Security Studies of George C. Marshall
European Center for security Studies, the International Fellows Program from the
U.S. National War College. His military education includes a Bachelor's Degree in
Military Science from the National Defence University of Bucharest, as well as a
Master's Degree in National Defence Strategy from the U.S. National Defence
University of Washington, D.C.

Colonel Marinel MARE holds Bachelor's Degree in Communication and
Public Relations, and a Master's Degree in Managerial Communication and Human
Resources from the National School for Political and Administrative Studies of
Bucharest.

Colonel Marinel MARE is married to Carmina and they have two grown-up
children.
