Brigadier General Ilir Pujo

Brigadier General Ilir Pujo, was born in 1968, Tirana, Albania. Upon graduating from secondary military school, he joined the Military Academy in 1987 and in September 1991 was commissioned as Military Intelligence Officer.

As Lieutenant, from 1991-1995 was appointed Platoon Commander and Company Commander of Military Intelligence units.

In 1996 was promoted Captain and moved to Commando Brigade, as training specialist of Commando and Special Forces.

From 2001-2003 served at the Special Operations Forces Battalion, as Deputy Commander/Chief of Staff of SOF Battalion.

In 2003 was assigned to the Albanian General Staff, J2 branch, Specialist for Intelligence, Analyses and Assessments.

In 2005 moved to Commando Regiment as Branch Chief for Operations and Training.

In 2008, was promoted Lieutenant Colonel, and assigned in the General Staff of Albanian Armed Forces, J2 branch as Sector Chief for Intelligence, Analyses and Assessments.

From 2010 – 2014 was appointed to SHAPE, ACO, Mons, Belgium as Albanian D/NMR for Operations and Intelligence.

In June 2014 was promoted Colonel and served as Deputy Director for Intelligence in DISA (Defense Intelligence and Security Agency).

From 2015- 2018 took the position of J2 Director in General Staff of Albanian Armed Forces.

In July 2019 – was appointed Director of General Staff, of Albanian Armed Forces until October 2020, when he took duty as General Director of Defense Intelligence and Security Agency.

In November 2021 was promoted Brigadier General, and in February 2022 was assigned as ALB MILREP to NATO.

BG Pujo is married to Mrs. Tatjana Pujo and is a father of two children, 19 and 13 years old.
