NATO RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS PROGRAMME 1995-1997

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization is pleased to
announce the award of 91 fellowships to citizens of
NATO member nations and of cooperation partner countries
in Central and Eastern Europe.

The aim of these NATO fellowships is to promote research
leading to publication in two distinct areas. The first
type of fellowship is awarded to citizens of NATO member
countries for the study of aspects of the common
interests and shared values of the Alliance. This
category of award aims at both individual projects and
institutions, the latter in the form of support for
research groups. This year 26 such fellowships have
been granted.

The second category originates from the May 1989 NATO
Summit, which decided to establish a new Fellowship
Programme whose goal was to promote the study of
democratic institutions. These fellowships are aimed
exclusively at citizens of Central and Eastern European
countries. This year 65 such fellowships have been
awarded.

PROGRAMME DE BOURSES DE RECHERCHE OTAN 1995-
1997

L'Organisation du Traite de l'Atlantique Nord a le
plaisir d'annoncer l'octroi de 91 bourses a des
ressortissants de pays membres de l'OTAN et de pays
partenaires de la cooperation d'Europe centrale et
orientale.

Ces bourses de l'OTAN ont pour objet de promouvoir des
recherches aux fins de publication dans deux domaines
differents. Le premier type de bourse est octroye a des
ressortissants de pays membres de l'OTAN, pour
l'etude de divers elements des interets et des valeurs
partages par tous les pays de l'Alliance. Cette
categorie de bourses vise a la fois des projets
individuels et institutionnels, ces derniers sous forme
d'une aide a des groupes de recherche. Cette annee, 26
projets de cette categorie ont ete couronnes.

La deuxieme categorie trouve son origine dans la
decision, prise au Sommet de l'OTAN de mai 1989, de
lancer un nouveau programme de bourses de recherche
visant a promouvoir l'etude des institutions
democratiques. Ces bourses sont reservees aux
ressortissants des pays d'Europe centrale et orientale.
65 bourses de cette categorie ont ete octroyees cette
annee.
