NATO ships take part in largest NATO exercise of 2025 during first large-scale deployment of Allied Reaction Force (ARF)

Two of NATO’s naval task groups have taken part in NATO’s largest exercise of 2025, Exercise Steadfast Dart, in the Aegean Sea. The exercise took place from 10 - 17 February 2025.

Steadfast Dart 2025 ready to start

With the logistic movements of the Allied Reaction Force (ARF) Headquarters Command Post, Steadfast Dart 2025 (STDT25) is ready to start. The exercise is the first large-scale deployment of the ARF since its establishment last year. It is aimed to test the deployable capabilities and procedures as well as the interoperability among the troop contributors and host nations.

First deployment of NATO ARF to focus on readiness support to KFOR

Approximately 200 personnel from NATO’s newly established Allied Reaction Force (ARF) will deploy to the Western Balkans from 30 September to 16 October 2024, to conduct training to ensure its readiness and to support the NATO-led Kosovo Force (KFOR).This is the first time any element of the ARF has deployed since the organisation was stood up in July 2024.

Secretary General thanks Allied military leaders for their work in transforming NATO for a new era of collective defence

On 10 May 2023, NATO’s highest Military Authority, the Military Committee, is meeting at NATO Headquarters in Brussels. The meeting brings together Allied Chiefs of Defence and their invitee counterpart from Sweden. The Chiefs of Defence are supported by General Christopher Cavoli, Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) and General Philippe Lavigne, Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (SACT). NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg joined the meeting’s first session to address the Alliance’s key priorities and challenges ahead of the Vilnius Summit.

NATO Chiefs of Defence convene virtual meeting to discuss summit deliverables

On 24 April 2023, the Allied Chiefs of Defence and Invitee Sweden held a virtual meeting of the NATO Military Committee to discuss the ongoing work on military planning for collective defence.
