General Christopher Cavoli of the US Army assumed command of Allied Command Operations in a ceremony at Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe in Mons, Belgium on Monday (4 July 2022). General Cavoli succeeds General Tod Wolters of the US Air Force, who had been in post since 2019.

United States Army General Curtis M. Scaparrotti took over command of NATO’s Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) from General Philip M. Breedlove during a handover ceremony in Mons, Belgium on Wednesday (4 May 2016). Attending the ceremony, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg thanked General Breedlove for his outstanding contribution to transatlantic security and welcomed General Scaparrotti to the Alliance. “Today we have come to honour two great men, General Breedlove and General Scaparrotti. Men who personify the enduring bond between Europe and the United States,” said Mr. Stoltenberg.
