Cooperation between IBAN and the Supreme Audit Institution of Benin: International cooperation in action, in pursuit of transparency and good governance

On 10 and 12 February 2025, the International Board of Auditors for NATO (IBAN) had the honour of welcoming to Brussels a delegation from the Benin Chamber of Accounts: Mr Roland Zinzindohoué, Director of the Office of the Chamber's President, and Mr Serge Batonon, the institution's Secretary General. Their talks focused on the external audit practices in use at NATO, with a view to promoting a broader understanding of them.

Looking back at IBAN’s annual training seminar – A week of fruitful discussions

The International Board of Auditors for NATO (IBAN) was very pleased to host its annual training seminar at NATO Headquarters in Brussels from 20 to 24 January 2025. For the second year running, the seminar – a key event for NATO’s external audit community – brought together experts from several Supreme Audit Institutions (SAI), providing a valuable framework for learning and dialogue.

Signature of a cooperation agreement between IBAN and Poland’s Supreme Audit Office: another step towards an enhanced partnership

The International Board of Auditors for NATO (IBAN) and the Supreme Audit Office of Poland (Najwyższa Izba Kontroli, NIK) have signed a cooperation agreement in Warsaw to enhance their exchanges and collaboration. This event marks an important step forward in developing synergies between member states’ audit offices.

Obituary of Mr Michael Gaul (1959-2024), Board Member

It is with great sadness that the International Board of Auditors for NATO (IBAN) must announce that Mr Michael Gaul, Board Member from the Federal Republic of Germany, passed away on the 21st of December, 2024. Mr Gaul was appointed to IBAN as a Board Member by the North Atlantic Council as of 1st August 2021.

Viveca Norman, born in 1961 in Sweden, was appointed by the North Atlantic Council as Board Member of the International Board of Auditors for NATO (IBAN) for four years as of 1 December 2024.

IBAN discusses its 2023 Annual Activity Report with NATO member countries’ Supreme Audit Institutions

On 15 May 2024, the International Board of Auditors for NATO (IBAN) held a meeting with representatives of the Supreme Audit Institutions of NATO member countries to discuss the IBAN 2023 Annual Activity Report (AAR). The meeting also covered ways to strengthen cooperation between the Supreme Audit Institutions and IBAN, as well as other audit-specific topics such as audit methodology and the audit of international organisations.

International Board of Auditors for NATO strengthens cooperation with the Romanian Court of Accounts

On 18 March 2024 in Brussels, the Chair of the International Board of Auditors for NATO (IBAN), Radek Visinger, and the President of the Romanian Court of Accounts, Mihai Busuioc, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between the two bodies. The MoU officially entered into force on 27 March, once it had been approved by all Board members.
