A ceremony to mark the accession of Montenegro will take place at NATO Headquarters on Wednesday, 7 June 2017 in the presence of the President of Montenegro, H.E. Filip Vujanović.

On Monday, 5 June 2017, NATO Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg, will join the Prime Minister of Montenegro, Duško Marković, and US Under Secretary for Political Affairs, Tom Shannon, at a ceremony at the State Department for the Deposit of Montenegro’s Instrument of Accession to NATO, formally triggering Montenegro’s membership in the Alliance.

I spoke with Prime Minister Zaev today and congratulated him on his new responsibilities. We agreed on the importance of addressing urgently needed reforms, including on good governance and the rule of law. These reforms will benefit all citizens of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia¹, and will further advance the country’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations.

On Wednesday, 24 May 2017, NATO Deputy Secretary General Rose Gottemoeller will deliver a speech at an event co-organized by the German Marshall Fund of the United States, the Egmont Institute and the Atlantic Treaty Association (ATA). The event, entitled NATO: (Re)Acting in an Era of Transition, will take place at the Prince Albert Club in Brussels.
